Gregg Popovich clearly still has game, and we’re not talking about basketball.
On Wednesday, TMZ reported that the multi-titled former San Antonio Spurs head coach has remarried, tying the knot with Mary Barth Budenholzer, the ex-wife of one of his former assistant coaches, Mike Budenholzer.
The 77-year-old Popovich and the former Mrs. Mike Budenholzer married in Texas on Sept. 16, according to TMZ. That caught many by surprise, particularly because of Mary Barth’s connection to Popovich’s former trusted lieutenant.
It also did not take long before fans started to connect the update on Popovich’s romantic life to an old controversy involving Spurs great Tony Parker, who allegedly cheated on Eva Longoria with a teammate’s wife.

Popovich was married to Erin Popovich, who died in 2018, while Mary and Mike divorced in 2016.
Despite the surprise sparked by Popovich’s marriage to Mary, the two had been seen together in public many times before, including during Spurs games last season, as mentioned by TMZ.
Mike is among the most successful members of Popovich’s coaching tree, having guided the Atlanta Hawks to several playoff appearances before finally winning an NBA title as a head coach with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.
Mike was Popovich’s assistant in San Antonio from 1996 to 2013, and together they helped the Spurs win NBA championships in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007.
