Former NBA champion Glen “Big Baby” Davis has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his role in a fraud scheme.

Davis was convicted in November 2023 for defrauding the NBA’s health care system. The former Boston Celtics big man was found guilty of health care fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to make false statements, and conspiracy to commit health care and wire fraud. More than 20 people have been convicted for their role in the scheme, which defrauded an insurance plan for NBA players of more than $5 million.

Davis received his 40-month prison sentence from a federal judge on Thursday. He also received three years of supervised release as part of the sentence, and he was ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution.

Davis was a second-round pick in 2007 out of LSU. He is best known for his four years with the Boston Celtics, which included being a part of their championship-winning team as a rookie in 2008. The 38-year-old’s best statistical season came in 2012-2013 when he averaged 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Orlando Magic.

As part of his supervised release, Davis will be subject to mandatory drug treatment and will have to attend a financial management class.
