Gloria Govan: Matt Barnes ‘absolutely not’ invited to her and Derek Fisher’s wedding

Matt Barnes has indicated on social media multiple times that the tension between him, his ex-wife Gloria Govan and ex-teammate Derek Fisher has subsided, but Govan clearly does not see it that way.

Govan, who was married to Barnes for about three years, recently got engaged to Fisher. Barnes actually went out of his way to congratulate the couple, mentioning how much his and Govan’s two sons love Fisher and claiming he speaks with Fisher weekly. When asked by TMZ if Barnes is going to be invited to the wedding, Govan gave a hard “no.”

“That’s funny, guys. Absolutely not,” she said. “No way, no way. I just think that’s awkward. Derek’s ex is not going to be there. Matt won’t be there. I think that’s just far-fetched.”

Govan took things a step further, noting that the relationship between Barnes and Fisher is not nearly as cordial as Barnes made it seem.

“I mean, him and Derek are not cool,” Govan said. “They’re cordial. I wouldn’t say there’s beef, but they don’t talk every week. That’s crazy.”

And if Barnes tries to get Govan and Fisher a gift, Gloria says she’ll throw it right in the trash.

It was not that long ago that Barnes tried to wish Govan a happy birthday on Instagram, and that sparked yet another ugly public spat between the two. So, in many ways, it’s hardly a surprise that Barnes is not welcome at the wedding.

The relationship between Barnes and Govan really soured back in 2015 when Barnes and Fisher got into a physical confrontation. Fisher and Govan have been dating basically since Govan separated from Barnes, and Barnes even heard nasty chants from fans about it during games. It’s probably best if he stays home when Govan and Fisher tie the knot.
