Grayson Allen prepared to confront tripping questions with NBA teams

Grayson Allen

NBA teams are still assessing former Duke guard Grayson Allen, and one major thing they’ll have to figure out is what to make of his extremely competitive history.

Allen came under frequent criticism for tripping opponents during his college career, and that is something he’s prepared to clear up when he sits down to speak with teams.

“You have to address it, for sure,” Allen said Thursday, via Andrew Seligman via Boston.com. “It’s something that comes from my competitiveness. Competitiveness that I’ve had as a player, competitiveness that was pointed in the wrong direction and went over the line. It’s obviously something that I needed to work on and address.”

Allen thinks he has gotten “a lot better” in controlling his competitive edge, and feels that will be a pro for interested NBA teams.

“I think the NBA, they like competitive guys,” he said.

Allen managed to remain trip-free during his senior season, though he courted controversy in other ways. He’s likely a late first round pick at best.
