Could that elusive head coaching gig finally come for Patrick Ewing in the Volunteer State?
According to a report by Ken Berger of CBS Sports on Friday, the Memphis Grizzlies recently interviewed Ewing, currently the associate head coach in Charlotte under Steve Clifford, for their open head coaching position.

While Ewing was unsuccessful in landing the Kings’ job (which ultimately went to Dave Joerger), a head coaching post has been long overdue for him. Ewing, 53, has been an assistant coach in the league since his retirement as a player in 2002, making stops in Washington, Houston, and Orlando before landing with Charlotte in 2013.
Ewing will likely have to contend with other job seekers such as Frank Vogel for the Memphis position. But as a deeply respected figure in the NBA community that has long been deserving of an opportunity as a head coach, Ewing would be a great hire for a bruising, old-school Grizzlies team that often mirrors his own style of play with the Knicks from back in the day.
