Report: Hasheem Thabeet to work out for Bucks, is in impressive shape

It may be better late than never, but it appears that Hasheem Thabeet could be getting another shot in the NBA.

Ben Stinard of Amico Hoops reported on Saturday that the forgotten 7-foot-3 center will be working out for the Milwaukee Bucks next week. Stinard adds that Thabeet has spent the last year reinventing his body and has heard from multiple NBA teams that he is in “great” shape.

Of course, Thabeet is one of the most notorious draft busts in history, going No. 2 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies back in 2009, ahead of such players as James Harden, Stephen Curry, and DeMar DeRozan. The former UConn star lasted just five seasons in the NBA, averaging 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game before washing out of the league. He last played for the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2013-14 season.

Thabeet is now 32 years old, and it is unclear where he would even fit in with Milwaukee should his workout go well, as they seem set at the center position with the twin brother duo of Brook and Robin Lopez. However, one superstar player had expressed confidence that Thabeet would make it back to the NBA at some point, so Thabeet’s moment to do just that may finally have come.
