There may be a reason that Isaiah Thomas’s hip issue may take so long to heal.
A new report indicates that there is more to the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard’s hip issue, including problems that have existed for years, that are hindering his recovery.
Jason Lloyd of the Athletic cited a source close to Thomas who said that Thomas’s hip issue is more significant than a tear. Some of it, such as arthritis and some loss of cartilage, have been issues that Thomas has played through for years, but are slowing down the current recovery.

“No one has any idea how quickly this will heal or if it even will heal at all,” the source said. “It’s hard to predict.”
There has even been speculation that Thomas won’t be ready to play until 2018. Reports like this indicate why that might just be possible.
