Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas has few flaws in his game, but one occasional issue is his penchant for picking up technical fouls.
Thomas was second in the NBA with 14 techs last season, and he lost a bet with his mother and wife, who believed he wouldn’t get through the season without picking up five technicals. They were right, as Thomas has 13 and counting.
“Yeah, it’s a wrap for that,” Thomas said, via Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe. “They definitely didn’t believe me and they were right, so I’ve just got to do a better job.”
Thomas cited his two sons as an inspiration for him to stop losing his cool during games.
“When I ref their games at home they yell at me,” Thomas said. “I remember the other week they said, ‘Well, you yell at the refs.’ They’re watching everything. So I’ve definitely got to do better.”
Thomas can run hot sometimes, like he does in incidents such as this. Toning down that temper can be easier said than done, though, as he seems to have learned this season.
