James Harden will try to recruit Kevin Durant to Houston

Kevin-Durant-James-Harden

James Harden is ready to put his recruiting hat on for Kevin Durant.

Harden, formerly Durant’s Oklahoma City teammate, intends to try to recruit Durant to Houston when he becomes a free agent after the season, according to ESPN’s Calvin Watkins.

Watkins says the Rockets front office has mentioned the possibility of recruiting to Harden, and he has responded positively, though he’s been publicly coy about any links to Durant.

“In order to put yourself as an elite team, you always got to have talent, right?” Harden said. “You always got to get better and find ways to improve. That’s any team.”

Durant and Harden maintain a good relationship going back to their time together in Oklahoma City, so a Harden recruiting pitch would likely get KD’s attention.

Watkins also notes that one unnamed Rockets official believes that if Durant leaves Oklahoma City and doesn’t come to Houston, he’ll land in Los Angeles with the Lakers.

In November, it was reported that Durant would be Houston’s top priority during the offseason. Whatever the case, it sounds like Durant will get his wish of a grand courtship when summer comes.
