Jared Dudley critical of Shaq’s call to ‘scrap’ remainder of NBA season
One NBA player thinks Shaquille O’Neal is ignoring some important factors in calling for the league to “scrap” the remainder of its season.
Shaq urged the league to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 season on Friday, arguing that it was too much of a risk to bring the necessary personnel together to play games, even without fans. That take didn’t go down well with Lakers forward Jared Dudley, who warned of serious economic impacts if games are not played.
Players don’t understand the ramifications if we don’t play this year.. It effects next season as well. No games, no tv money , billions lost in revenue.. There will be no vaccine coming next year also so IF we can be Safe which I have faith in the NBA we can l, we should play. https://t.co/TUec32UfEj

This is the next big discussion. Do players feel safe playing games right now? Dudley is comfortable with it, but there are apparently concerns among some players about one potential plan to restart the season. Ultimately, we won’t know much until there’s a more concrete plan on how to proceed. For now, Shaq’s opinion seems to be an outlier.
It’s worth noting that Dudley may have his own reasons for wanting the chance to finish the season.
