The Utah Jazz surprised many at the NBA trade deadline by acquiring Jaren Jackson Jr. in a blockbuster deal with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies also sent John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Jazz for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks. However, just nine days after the trade, Jackson is likely out for the remainder of the season due to an injury, as Chris Haynes reported.

The surgery is due to a “localized PVNS growth” being found after he joined the team.

The Jazz also announced the news right after on the team’s X page, with the statement reading that Jackson will undergo surgery during the All-Star break.

The Jazz’s acquisition of Jackson was a big move for the future.

The big man played in three games for Utah, scoring 22 or more points in all three performances, although the Jazz have been the talk of the tank discussion due to the way they have handled minutes over the past few games.

The Jazz face the Portland Trail Blazers at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Thursday in the final game before the All-Star break.
