The Washington Wizards have only evened their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Toronto Raptors, but in a sense, John Wall has already gotten something of the last laugh.
Wall said Monday that he’s excited to return to Toronto for Game 5 so he can see Drake, who he claims made a prediction that turned out to be very wrong.
“Yeah, you know I am. For sure,” Wall said, via ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. “I told him to be here for Game 3. He told me he was going to be here. He didn’t show up. He told me we were getting swept. He said he had the broom for us.
“My reaction is, we did what we were supposed to do; we came home and won two games. My arguments with him ain’t really about the game of basketball — we just be out there having fun. But at the same time, we [have] a focus that we are trying to go in there and win Game 5. I want him to know that they weren’t going to sweep us.”
Wall and Drake are friends, but the Wizards guard admitted that he’s not listening to the rapper’s music right now.
Drake has never been afraid to trash talk the best on behalf of the Raptors — even if it leaves him looking silly. Don’t expect him to back down from Wall now.
