J.R. Smith thinks the Boston Celtics may have had some help from a higher power in their Game 3 upset victory over his Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
Speaking with reporters at Cavs practice on Monday, Smith commented on how Avery Bradley’s game-winning three-pointer “danced around” the basket and denied Cleveland the opportunity for a last shot, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. He even went so far as to call it the “luck of the Irish.”

Of course, Smith may just be trying to save face here after blowing the switch on the play and allowing Bradley to get open for the game-winner. Smith also taunted Boston fans with a sweeping gesture in Game 2 of the series, so maybe there was an element of karma in play as well.
Regardless, the Celtics showed no quit despite facing an 0-2 hole and losing their best player. That certainly has to be worthy of Lady Luck’s good graces.
