Report: Kawhi Leonard not interested in signing short-term deal
Kawhi Leonard is still trying to decide which team he wants to play for next season, and there has been some talk about him potentially signing a short-term deal to return to the Toronto Raptors and becoming a free agent again next summer. According to one report, that is not going to happen.
Cris Carter, who is believed to have close ties to Leonard’s camp, said Friday that Leonard is not interested in signing a one- or two-year deal. When he finally decides on a team (which apparently won’t be Friday), the NBA Finals MVP is expected to sign a long-term contract.
After looking like we would find out today, we will not. Kawhi is still undecided & is not going to finalize his decision today.
Also, contrary to other reports, Kawhi is NOT interested in signing a 1 or 2 year deal. When he signs, it will be a long term contract.

That may not be the best news for the Raptors. Leonard is from Los Angeles, and the belief is that he wants to play there eventually. He seemed more likely to sign a two-year deal with an opt out after Year 1 if he returned to Toronto next season, but no one really knows what he is thinking at this point.
Raptors fans were in a frenzy on Friday because of some corporate jet activity, but all indications are that we are going to have to wait until at least the weekend to find out where Kawhi will land.
