Kendrick Perkins thinks Kevin Durant could return to Thunder eventually
Could Kevin Durant follow the LeBron James career arc? One of his ex-teammates thinks it’s possible.
Kendrick Perkins was part of a group of the 2008 championship-winning Boston Celtics who joined KG’s “Area 21” during TNT’s NBA playoffs coverage on Monday night. The show was a reunion of sorts with Perkins, Glen Big Baby Davis, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo joining Kevin Garnett in studio.
There was a live stream of Area 21 and at one point Perkins made a big revelation.
Perk, who teamed with Durant and Russell Westbrook for parts of five seasons in OKC, said that the two stars are back on speaking terms. He also shared his personal thoughts that Durant could one day return to the Thunder.

This seems like the first time this concept has been legitimately floated.
LeBron James left Cleveland — where he was drafted — to sign in Miami and win a couple of titles. He then returned home to Cleveland and was able to win a ring for the previously downtrodden franchise. Durant was drafted by Seattle/OKC, got his team close to winning it all but came up short, then left to the Warriors where he’s trying to win that elusive ring. If he’s able to get a title or two a la LeBron, maybe he would return to OKC to try and make it right with that franchise after leaving them.
What’s big is that Westbrook and Durant are back on speaking terms, especially after Westbrook made it clear earlier this year that they weren’t.
