Kendrick Perkins roasted over big blunder while criticizing Celtics

The Boston Celtics may have only lost two games this postseason, but Kendrick Perkins is still not impressed with them.

Perkins has carved out a role for himself at ESPN by criticizing everyone and anyone, and his former team is no exception. Few people have been harder on the Celtics in recent years than Perkins, who won a championship with the team in 2008. Perk continued hating on the Celtics during Wednesday’s edition of “First Take,” but he made an embarrassing blunder while doing so.

As part of a discussion on whether the Celtics had an easy path to the NBA Finals, Perkins criticized Boston for not sweeping any of their three playoff opponents. Shannon Sharpe quickly reminded his colleague that the Celtics just swept the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Perkins tried to recover, but the damage was done.

“Oh yeah, they just swept them. I’m sorry, they swept them, but they supposed to sweep these guys,” Perkins said.

As expected, fans roasted Perkins for the mistake.

It is hard to believe that Perkins did not know the Celtics swept the Pacers, but that was clearly the case. The entire point he was attempting to make was based on it. Perhaps Perk missed the end of Boston’s epic comeback against Indiana in Game 3.

Perkins has gotten more and more animated with his criticism of the Celtics over the past couple of years. He is so determined to make his former team look bad that he can’t even keep basic facts straight.
