Could Kenny Smith be a serious candidate for the Houston Rockets job?
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the TNT analyst could get an interview for the position.
Smith, a former Rocket, remains close with owner Leslie Alexander, as does Sam Cassell, who is reportedly also on the radar.
“I’ve always said anything basketball is me,” Smith said Wednesday on TNT when Charles Barkley asked him if he’d be interested. “And this is basketball. I enjoy being here. This is me.”
When pressed on whether he’d like to coach, Smith simply said “under the right circumstances.”
This seems more like a courtesy call than an actual interview. Still, it would be interesting to see, particularly given how some of Smith’s TNT colleagues feel about the Rockets in general.
