Kevin Durant doesn’t feel terribly bad for Harrison Barnes.
Barnes, of course, was the championship-winning small forward for the Golden State Warriors, part of the lineup of death, a regular starter on the best regular season team in NBA history, and generally regarded as a good player. He was pushed out the door, though, when the Warriors discovered that they were getting Durant as a free agent.
So, KD, any thoughts on the man you’re replacing?
10-year-old in crowd: "What do you think Harrison Barnes thinks about you taking his spot?"
Durant: "I think he just got paid $95 million."— Mike Finger (@mikefinger) September 9, 2016
Well, he did. Admittedly, Barnes did seem a little bit hurt by how quickly the Warriors cast him aside, but nobody would argue who the better player is. It’s not Durant’s job to feel sorry for Barnes. Golden State made it clear that they wanted him, and he wanted them too.
