Milwaukee Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. is getting mocked on social media for his stance on Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game.
Porter Jr. is among those who find it wrong that Adebayo has the second-highest points total in an NBA game, surpassing Kobe Bryant. In an appearance on social media personality Deshae Frost’s stream, Porter said he felt he had to surpass Adebayo’s points total “just for the respect of Kobe.”
Kevin Porter Jr. tells Deshae Frost’s chat he’s trying to beat Bam Adebayo’s 83 points for the respect of Kobe Bryant.

Needless to say, Porter was scoffed at for his comment. The general consensus was that Porter would have no chance at a mark like that, and would be even less worthy of it than Adebayo is.
he not even getting half of 83 be serious 😭

Kevin Porter breaking Kobe’s record would actually be more disrespectful than Bam breaking it

Porter did post a 50-point game in 2021, but has never hit the 40-point mark otherwise. He is averaging a perfectly respectable 17.4 points per game this season, but his season high in points is 32. He would need to more than double that to even consider topping Adebayo.
Some current and former players have been very defensive about Bryant’s 81-point game and feel he deserves the mark of second-highest single-game points total more than Adebayo does. Porter is at least in a position to do something about it, though if he did manage it, he probably wouldn’t be seen as avenging Bryant.
