The two sides had been negotiating an extension over the last few weeks. Brown and the team had reportedly been a few million apart and even tabled talks recently after reaching what appeared to be an impasse. There were even rumblings that the Kings’ ownership group had become frustrated with Brown.
Brown reportedly had wanted $10 million per year, which is exactly what the Kings front office eventually paid him.
Last season, Brown led the Kings to their first playoff appearance since 2006. Brown has a 94-70 record in his two seasons with the Kings.
Sacramento finished with a 46-36 record this season but missed the playoffs after being ravaged by injuries to guards Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter.
