Klay Thompson paid Stephen Curry a major compliment after the Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship on Tuesday night, and he may have taken a not-so-subtle jab at LeBron James in the process.
While sitting next to Curry and speaking to reporters, Thompson labeled his teammate the “best player in the world.”
“It feels good to say we’re the best team in the world with the best player in the world, this man sitting to my right,” Thompson said while pointing at Curry.
Curry, sporting a wry smile, muttered “appreciate it.”
Thompson may have just wanted to praise his fellow guard, but he was likely taking a shot at LeBron for the cocky comment James made about himself after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost Game 5.
There are very few people who would take Curry over LeBron in a general sense, but there’s a reason Curry is the reigning NBA MVP and his team just won it all. He deserves all the credit he is given.
