Report: Knicks could bring Carmelo Anthony back next season

Carmelo Anthony

The New York Knicks are about to hire Carmelo Anthony’s longtime agent as their new team president, which could lead to a reunion next season.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, multiple NBA executives believe incoming Knicks president Leon Rose will be interested in bringing Anthony back to the Knicks next season. Rose has served as Anthony’s agent since 2009, and helped engineer his move to the Knicks from the Denver Nuggets in 2011.

Anthony admitted he still speaks to Rose “multiple times a week,” and would not rule out ending his career as a Knick when asked about it Thursday.

Anthony has gone from near retirement to being a key player for the Portland Trail Blazers. He’s averaging 15.5 points per game this season and can still make at least some contribution to an NBA team. He won’t lead the Knicks to the promised land, but it would at least be a nice story.
