Ex-NBA player Kwame Brown arrested for possession of weed, edibles
Kwame Brown has had many disappointing moments during his NBA career, and the former top overall pick had another one in his post-retirement life this week.
According to TMZ, Brown was arrested in Georgia late Saturday night for marijuana possession when he was a passenger in a car during a traffic stop. Police say the car smelled of marijuana, and Brown admitted to having weed in a backpack in the trunk. Police found a small amount of marijuana as well as a bunch of weed-infused goodies, and Brown was charged with felony possession of edible marijuana products and misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.
One entertaining tidbit from the arrest was that Brown could not fit in a regular police car, so a bigger vehicle was called to transport him after he was arrested. The 37-year-old stands nearly 7 feet tall. Brown was released from jail after posting bond.
Brown was taken by the Washington Wizards with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, and he never lived up to expectations while playing for seven different teams during his career. One of the things he is best known for is supposedly being brought to tears by Michael Jordan when he played with him on the Wizards, though Brown has since ripped the media and said that never happened.
