Kyler Murray has unique way of congratulating MLB draftees

Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray may be a future starting quarterback in the NFL, but the former Oklahoma star knows exactly what it feels like to be one of the first players to have your name called in the MLB Draft. On Monday, he had a very creative way of congratulating the baseball prospects who enjoyed that same experience.

After the first day of the MLB Draft, Murray shared a photo of himself in an Oakland A’s jersey on Instagram. He sent well wishes to all of the players who were drafted, but he used hashtags to squash any speculation about him changing his mind and returning to baseball.

“Congrats to everyone who got drafted today! #JustAPic #History #NoNeedForTheSpeculation #AllLuv,” Murray wrote.

Many initially thought Murray was crazy to leave money on the table and enter the NFL Draft, but the contract he signed with the Arizona Cardinals last month includes much more guaranteed money than the one he had with the A’s. Even if the report about the offer Oakland made Murray before he entered the NFL Draft is true, he still came out on top financially — at least in the short term.

Murray is fully committed to the Cardinals, but you can’t blame him for making sure fans didn’t go ballistic over a photo of him in an A’s jersey. He clearly understands the way the internet works in 2019.
