Kyrie Irving suggested he has no intention of turning his upcoming free agency into a saga.
Irving has a player option for the 2022-23 season, and is expected to use it to lock in a new long-term deal. However, Irving indicated Saturday that he will re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets and staying alongside Kevin Durant.
Kyrie Irving indicates he’ll be re-signing with the Nets in the summer:
“There’s no way I’m leaving my man #7 anywhere.”
Kevin Durant (#7) recently signed a long term extension with the Nets.

Durant signed a max contract extension prior to the season, so there are no questions about his long-term future. Irving seems content to link himself to Durant, which would mean he is staying.
Of course, most will take statements like this from Irving with a grain of salt. He infamously publicly committed to re-signing with the Boston Celtics, but did an about face and left for the Nets the ensuing summer. Irving is probably telling the truth here, but many won’t believe it until he actually signs the contract.
