Lamar Odom calls boos ‘a little confusing and a little hurtful’

Lamar Odom

This season has been a disaster for Lamar Odom beginning with his cancelled trade to Houston and his eventual trade to the Mavericks. He hasn’t found a role in Dallas, he’s still upset with the Lakers, and he supposedly has had marital trouble. He has missed games to get his head right and he was benched last Friday. He’s even been booed, and that’s been tough for him.

“I’ve never been booed in my life,” he said. “So if it’s to the point where I’m playing a basketball game at home and I’m getting booed, I would say no disrespect but maybe I think people took things the wrong way.”

Odom says he opened up about some of his personal issues, and it seems like he hoped he would have received support from the fans. He’s been disappointed to receive the opposite reaction, like when he was booed at home.

“So it was a little confusing and a little hurtful, but it’s the sport world,” he told reporters Monday. “I understand. We’re in a business that it’s all about what have you done lately, or the last game or the next game?”

Odom’s not angry, but he’s confused with the fans. I’m really starting to feel badly for the guy because he’s so honest about his problems. The issue is the NBA is no place for weak-minded athletes. Odom needs to get some support and man up on the court. That’s the only way this will be solved.
