Report: Lamar Odom hooked on OxyContin, Ambien

TMZ dropped a bombshell report on Friday when they said Lamar Odom has been abusing hardcore recreational drugs for the past two years. The report stated that Odom’s drug abuse was the reason for the marital problems between him and wife Khloe Kardashian.

TMZ did not elaborate on what kind of drugs Odom supposedly has been abusing, but they called them “hardcore recreational drugs.” Terms like that obviously leave things wide open for guesses, but Radar Online has more specifics.

Radar Online says Odom is hooked on OxyContin and Ambien.

OxyContin is a pain killer and is said to be highly addictive, highly expensive, and highly euphoric by one UrbanDictionary.com user. The drug is termed “hillbilly heroin” by some.

Ambien is a sleeping pill for those with sleep problems. Since I’m such a nerd that I really have no idea about these drugs, I will defer to UrbanDictionary.com again for a description of the product.

“[Ambien] can be used recreationally to provide a feeling of euphoria. Normal dose is 10mg, but abusers will take several at a time to intensify the effect. A person will often say and do things on it that they wouldn’t have done otherwise since you truly have no worries when on it and consequence means nothing. It is either hard or impossible to remember what you do when on it the following day… It also makes you dizzy and makes you lose your balance easily.”

TMZ reported that Odom has been abusing the drugs for two years and even went to rehab for three weeks last August. He supposedly stayed off the drugs during the NBA season.

In 2001, Odom, then 22, was suspended five games for a second violation of the NBA’s drug policy. He later admitted that he was using weed, though he denied having a drug problem at the time.
