Report: LaMelo Ball camp may try to steer him to Knicks
The Ball family may be up to something behind the scenes of the NBA Draft.
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, some within the league believe that LaMelo Ball’s camp will try to steer him to the New York Knicks in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Ball’s father LaVar has said on multiple occasions that he thinks the Knicks would be the best fit for LaMelo. There have also been reports that the Knicks are quite enamored with the 18-year-old point guard.
Ultimately, the Ball family probably doesn’t have much power here unless the draft lottery cooperates. As it stands, the Knicks have the sixth worst record in the NBA, and it’s highly unlikely that they’ll get a shot at drafting Ball unless they can find themselves in the top three or so. There’s just not a lot the Balls can do to influence things behind the scenes if that doesn’t happen.
