Lance Stephenson will reportedly work out for Pelicans

The enigmatic Lance Stephenson is still looking for a new NBA home, and the New Orleans Pelicans appear to be interested.

According to a report by Brett Dawson of the New Orleans Advocate on Monday, Stephenson will work out for the Pelicans.

The 25-year-old Stephenson has been on four teams in the last three years, averaging 8.3 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, and 1.9 assists per game combined between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies in 2015-16.

Stephenson’s talent as a shot creator and a playmaker is obvious, but his helter-skelter style of play and his combustible personality have become off-putting to many teams.

The Pelicans have long been criticized for an excess of similarly ball-dominant players on their roster. But with Tyreke Evans not expected to be ready for the start of the 2016-17 season and Eric Gordon now a Houston Rocket, Stephenson fits a need for better or for worse.

There was some talk previously that Stephenson might have to settle for a contract overseas, so this could be his final chance to land on an NBA team for next season. We’ll just have to see if New Orleans is ready for Born Ready.
