LeBron James appears to be inching closer to finally ending his free agency saga.
The 41-year-old superstar has held up the NBA offseason as teams await the winning combination in the LeBron sweepstakes. James has taken the unusual approach of refusing to meet with teams, opting instead to let agent Rich Paul serve as his liaison, gather intel, and speak to teams on his behalf.
NBA reporter Chris Haynes shared some insight on James’ process during Monday’s NBA Summer League game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat — two of James’ former teams — at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nev. Haynes stated that he had spoken directly to Paul, who revealed that James “has all the information needed,” and that it’s now “all up to LeBron James to make a decision.”
James is reportedly in “the deliberation phase” of his free agency, and Haynes believes that points to a decision potentially coming soon. That’s certainly welcome news for teams and other free agents alike, who may soon be able to move on once James’ free agency domino finally topples.
Haynes reiterated the teams still “in the mix” for James’ services are the Heat, Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and the Philadelphia 76ers. But based on the latest buzz, one of those teams may need to trade away its star to land James.
