Jaylen Brown may need to come up with a different proposal for how the Philadelphia 76ers should celebrate a potential 2026-27 NBA championship.
The Sixers swingman was streaming live on Twitch earlier this week when he revealed a text exchange he had with fellow Philly newcomer LeBron James. Brown shared that he called for the team to go skydiving if the team completes their goal of hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy at season’s end.
King James was apparently not stoked about going airborne outside of a basketball court.
“I told the team. I told VJ [Edgecombe], [Tyrese Maxey], LeBron, and [Joel] Embiid, if we win the championship, everybody’s going skydiving,” Brown said during a Twitch live stream earlier in the week.
“LeBron texted me back and said, ‘Boy, hell naw!'”
James may not be down to skydive now. But who knows how he’d feel following the adrenaline of potentially winning a fifth championship. LeBron may learn to love being airborne more often, given the rumors that he’d be taking helicopter rides from New York to Philly and back multiple times a week.
Brown did not say whether or not Embiid, Maxey, or Edgecombe were more receptive to the idea. If ever, the 76ers stars would need to find some of the largest tandem instructors out there to ensure there wouldn’t be a weight imbalance as they jump off the plane.
Finding someone to match up with the 6’9″ James would already be a challenge. Imagine looking for an instructor physically large enough to pair with 7’2″ Embiid.
Brown sounds excited to form relationships with his new Sixers teammates, which comes in stark contrast with how he seemed to feel about his relationship with Jaylen Brown.
