LeBron James leaves JJ Redick feeling like a ‘loser’

LeBron James’ longevity is a subject discussed ad nauseam. That will continue to be the case, as the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is still winning his battle against Father Time.

The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player pushed back the hands of time anew on Wednesday, when the Lakers defeated the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, 124-116.

At 41 years old, James performed like he’s a decade younger, scoring 30 points on an incredibly efficient 13/14 shooting from the field with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

James’s performance also had Lakers head coach JJ Redick, who is only months older than the future Basketball Hall of Famer, looking in the mirror.

“Watching him, it actually probably makes me feel like a loser,” Redick told reporters after the game.

“And every time he falls on the ground, every time he has a box out, every time he gets hit hard, I feel it too. I feel it too, because I’m just so out of shape right now. It’s remarkable.”

JJ Redick didn’t say how many times LeBron James has made him feel that way, but he can’t be the only 41-year-old experiencing that sentiment every time the 22-time NBA All-Star takes the floor and performs at such a high level.

So far in the 2025-26 season, James is averaging 21.4 points on 51.4% shooting, 6.8 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game.
