LeBron James reportedly checked out Philadelphia schools during All-Star break

LeBron James

The Lebron James to the Sixers rumor mill will surely pick up steam after a recent report out of Philadelphia.

A few years ago, the NBA extended the break surrounding its annual All-Star game to give teams a week (or more in some cases) off. For James, some of that time was reportedly spent visiting schools.

According to former NBA player Alaa Abdelnaby, who now hosts a radio show in Philadelphia, James was in the Philly area during the break checking out private schools.

“I’ve told this to a few other people, and I have no problem saying this, my brother lives in the Philadelphia area and he told me that LeBron, last week through a superintendent, was in the area checking out some private schools during the All-Star break,” Abdelnaby said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia.

This report comes a day after we learned a company in Philadelphia put up billboards recruiting James to the 76ers:

This is not the first time a report has circulated saying James checked out schools in a city; a report in the fall said he and his wife checked out a school in Los Angeles. James and wife Savannah have three children.

James has a player option in his contract for next season, meaning he could become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he chooses. Nearly every team in the league would probably want to throw their hat in the ring for him, but the 76ers might have an advantage.

The Sixers boast an impressive collection of young talent including Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Dario Saric. Adding James to that group would instantly make the Sixers a force in the Eastern Conference. And it would also make one of their star players extremely happy given how long he’s been recruiting James to Philly.
