LeBron James offered a ringing endorsement of coach David Blatt, saying that the Cavaliers coach “does his job as great as any coach can do.”
James also called on his team to play better despite a 9-3 start, clearly unhappy after blowing a double digit second half lead against Detroit.
“Coach got on us pretty well, rightfully so, which he should have,” James said Thursday, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “We spent about 45 minutes in the film room, so [Wednesday] was not a day off. It was a day off from the court but not from us preparing and still getting better.
“He does his job as great as any coach can do in this league,” James said of Blatt. “It’s up to us to go out and produce.”
James has always been hounded by allegations of a fairly tepid relationship with Blatt, and has even been accused of outright disrespecting him. This seems to indicate that there’s plenty of respect between the two, which is good news for Cleveland.
