LeBron James worked out with Dwyane Wade ‘because I want to’
LeBron James briskly brushed away criticism of his decision to work out with Miami’s Dwyane Wade, saying that he simply doesn’t care.
With the Cavaliers struggling amidst sky-high expectations, James has dealt with criticism for spending a few off days in Miami to work out with Wade, a former teammate but potential playoff opponent. It’s safe to say that James was irked by the questions.
“I don’t care,” James said via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, when asked about the negative perception of the workout.
“What do I go there for? Go there ’cause I want to,” James added. “I would love to go to L.A., but I’ll take two and a half [hour flight] over four and a half. I’ve got a house in L.A. but it makes more sense for me to go South than go West. But I go because I want to.”
As the questioning ended, James took another shot at the circus.
“That’s cool? I’m OK to leave when I want to leave?” James asked. “Be back at my work on time, two hours before? OK. Last one to leave the gym. OK. Thank you. Love you guys.”
James has to know that something like this is going to raise questions if it gets out. It may be frustrating for him, but that’s just the way it is, especially since he’s the unquestioned team leader who is responsible for setting Cleveland’s mentality.
