The New York Knicks have made a notable addition to their backcourt.
Veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon agreed to a one-year deal with the Knicks on Friday, his agent Sam Permut told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Brogdon was with the Washington Wizards last season and was a fairly productive scorer when he played. He averaged 12.7 points per game, though he shot a career-worst 28.6% from three-point range. Brodgdon only played in 24 games, which was also the lowest mark of his nine NBA seasons.
The 32-year-old Brodgon has battled numerous injuries throughout his career, but he has played a big role on several different teams. He was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2017 with the Milwaukee Bucks, who drafted him in the second round out of Virginia. Brogdon was also named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in his lone season with the Boston Celtics in 2022-23.
Brogdon is a career 38.8% three-point shooter. He made a career-best 44.4% percent of his threes with the Celtics in 2022-23 and converted 41.2% from three-point range the following season with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Brodgon was also a quality player with the Indiana Pacers from 2019-2022. He averaged a career-best 21.2 points per game during the 2020-21 season.
