With how stacked the Miami Heat’s roster is going to be next season, point guard Mario Chalmers may find himself playing the part of team plumber. As it turns out, he’s really buying into the role.
The two-time NBA champion took to Instagram Friday to show off his new tattoo: iconic Nintendo character Super Mario, basketball in hand.

His caption read:
Shoutout to my homie @junkroxxx for the yat work last night. Gotta finish my sleeve before the end of the summer.
It’s the second time that Chalmers, everybody’s favorite goofball little brother, has embraced the video game moniker his name parallels. Who could forget the time when he dressed up as Super Mario in the Heat’s legendary Harlem Shake video from 2013?
Let’s just say that this time, the commitment was just a tad bigger.
Chalmers’ Italian might not be all that great and often times, watching his reckless style of play can feel like trying to navigate Rainbow Road. But the 29-year-old’s new ink is certainly one of the cooler (not to mention wittier) tattoos in the NBA today.
With the Heat reportedly shopping his expiring contract for financial relief, it’s nice to see that Chalmers has some semblance of permanence in his life right now.
Ralph Wiggum definitely approves.
