Matt Barnes not happy with way Derek Fisher handled fight

Matt Barnes is not happy with the way Derek Fisher handled their fight over Barnes’ estranged wife Gloria Govan.

Last month Barnes drove to Govan’s home in Los Angeles and got into a fight with Fisher, who had been dating Govan for a few months. The incident was reported by some news outlets — albeit with incorrect information according to Barnes — and it was reported to the NBA. Barnes did not like that.

Preparing for his first game against his former team the Los Angeles Clippers since joining the Memphis Grizzlies, Barnes was asked about the incident.

“We’re two grown men who should have handled two grown men’s business, but he wanted to run and tell the cops and NBA,” Barnes said of Fisher Monday via the Los Angeles Times’ Ben Bolch.

Barnes also thinks the Knicks, which are coached by Fisher, leaked the story to the New York Post to make him look like the bad guy.

Barnes can spin this all he wants and try to make other people look bad, but he needs to look at himself. He’s the one who drove to his estranged wife’s place to fight the guy she is now dating. He may have felt like the fight was mutual and justified, but maybe Fisher felt he was unjustifiably confronted and attacked. Whom Govan is dating is really not Barnes’ business at this point, so he needs to let it go. And what excuse is there for physically assaulting Fisher to the point a child had to step in? This seems like a continuing pattern for Barnes of getting into trouble and putting the blame on others.
