Report: Mavericks believe JJ Barea tore his Achilles

The Dallas Mavericks are worried about the injury fate of JJ Barea.

Barea left Friday night’s win over Minnesota with what the team termed a lower right leg injury. ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported after the game that the Mavericks believe Barea tore his right Achilles’ tendon.

The Mavericks guard immediately grabbed that area on his right leg after his fall.

Barea had 16 points and 7 assists in 22 minutes off the bench in the win. The 34-year-old is averaging 10.8 points and 5.5 assists in nearly 20 minutes per game this season. Barea is in his 10th season with the team (over two stints) and is a fan favorite.
