Report: Mike Brown offered Warriors’ top assistant job

The Golden State Warriors are replacing a man who has elected to become the new Lakers coach with a former Lakers coach.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical, former Lakers and Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown has been offered Golden State’s lead assistant role which had been occupied by Luke Walton.

The two sides have yet to reach an agreement on a deal, but it sounds as though the former NBA Coach of the Year is on his way to the Warriors’ bench.

The last we heard of Brown was when Magic Johnson was ripping him after he was fired by the Lakers in 2012. He coached two of the NBA’s generational stars in LeBron James and Kobe Bryant and was in charge of Cleveland during James’s successful first stint there, but he was dogged by rumors that he struggled to get along with his stars. Being second in command on a quality team may suit him a bit better.
