NBA makes big decision on Mac McClung
Mac Attack: The Sequel is officially in the works.
The NBA has officially decided this week to extend an invite to G League guard Mac McClung to participate in the 2024 Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Monday. McClung, who won the event last season, is getting an opportunity to defend his title.
The 24-year-old McClung became the first-ever G Leaguer to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest last season and responded by blowing away the field. At a very modest 6-foot-2, McClung produced a number of jaw-dropping rim-rockers, earning himself multiple perfect scores and ultimately the Dunk Contest trophy (see the highlights here).
McClung hasn’t played in the NBA at all this season (after making a couple of appearances for the Philadelphia 76ers last season following his Dunk Contest triumph). But he is still getting buckets to the tune of 25.4 points per game for the Osceola Magic (G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic). Come February at All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, McClung will be getting his chance to shine once again on the national stage.
