New Warriors’ arena to be named Chase Center

The future home arena of the Golden State Warriors already has a name: Chase Center.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Warriors and Chase have reached agreement on a naming deal for the new arena. Financial terms of the agreement were not announced, but there is speculation it could be in excess of the $200 million Barclays paid for the naming rights to the center in Brooklyn.

The Warriors are on schedule to begin playing in their new home in the 2019-2020 season. The arena was initially set to be opened a year earlier, but a lawsuit stands in the way. UCSF donors have sued because they believe the new arena will have a negative impact on the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay.

In addition to being the new home of the Warriors, the plan is to have the Chase Center host concerts and conventions. It will also be surrounded by offices, shops and more.
