Nick Young on first assist to Kobe Bryant: ‘It was the Yeezys’
In the greatest miracle on this side of the Music City, Lakers merrymaker Nick Young finally gave us the basketball unicorn sighting we had always longed for: an assist to Kobe Bryant.
Believe it or not, over the span of three seasons in Lakerland and more than 450 minutes logged alongside him, Young had never assisted on a Bryant basket. Like, ever……No, seriously.
But all that finally changed in Saturday’s 126-97 loss to the Houston Rockets when about halfway through the second quarter, the swaggiest one to ever sport the purple-and-gold finally fed the Black Mamba for a three-point field goal (per Tom Haberstroh of ESPN).

Young, probably as dumbfounded as the rest of us, could only muster one explanation: it had to be the power of his shoes, namely the state-of-the-art Yeezy Boost 750s from Adidas that Young laced up on the Toyota Center hardwood. He even proudly displayed the kicks before the game for his Instagram followers to behold:
“It was the Yeezys,” the 30-year-old guard affirmatively declared when asked about the assist to Bryant in his postgame interview per Baxter Holmes of ESPN.
Well, I suppose it doesn’t get much swaggier than declaring yourself to be some sort of post-modern hybrid between Kanye West and Calvin Cambridge.
At least Bryant, who has announced his plans to hang up his own sneakers after the season, can retire in peace knowing now that the one thing that his illustrious basketball career was missing for all these years finally happened: for Swaggy P to pass him the damn ball.
