In the latest off-court distraction for the Houston Rockets, point guard Patrick Beverley missed the team shootaround on Wednesday after being arrested for a misdemeanor traffic violation.

Reid Laymance of the Houston Chronicle reports that the 27-year-old Beverley was stopped on Texas State Highway Beltway 8 Wednesday morning by local police.

The former Arkansas Razorback reportedly had an open warrant for a Class C misdemeanor. The offense in question? “Operating a Motor Vehicle on Toll Road When Prohibited.”

Beverley was arrested, paid a fine at the police station, and was subsequently released from custody.

The fourth-year guard has a reputation as one of the league’s biggest defensive pests and is averaging 6.0 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game. and 1.0 assists per game coming off the bench this year.

The 4-3 Rockets issued the following statement about the situation (per John Schuhmann of NBA.com), saying that they consider the matter to be closed:

Between the injuries plaguing their frontcourt and the personal/legal issues hounding their backcourt (namely, Beverley, James Harden, and Ty Lawson), it has been a bumpy start to the season for Houston to say the least.
