Report: Paul George not expected to return to Thunder

Paul George

Paul George is looking more and more like a one-and-done in Oklahoma City.

Ryen Russillo of ESPN reported on his self-titled podcast this week that the All-Star forward is “gone” from the Thunder, citing a “trusted” source.

“Today is the first time I’ve heard from anybody I trust that George is gone,” said Russillo. “I don’t know where. It’s a ‘he’s gone’ deal … And I was like ‘Where’s he going?” and [the source was] like ‘All we know is that he’s gone.'”

The 28-year-old George, an unrestricted free agent this summer, averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists a game in his first season with OKC. The Thunder were bounced in six games by the Utah Jazz in the first round.

George has long been expected to consider signing with his hometown team, the LA Lakers, but another new contender for his services recently emerged.
