Report reveals 89-year-old Hubie Brown’s job status at ESPN
While Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson are both out at ESPN, another former NBA head coach is still going strong with the network.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported on Monday that ESPN is retaining legendary basketball figure Hubie Brown for the coming NBA season. Brown will continue to call games for the network that he has worked as a broadcaster for since 2004.
A Basketball Hall of Fame inductee in 2005, Brown coached in the NBA for nearly three decades from 1976-2004, winning two NBA Coach of the Year Awards. He also had a successful head coaching career in the ABA prior to that, leading the Kentucky Colonels to the 1975 ABA championship.
While Brown turns 90 years old in September, he is still very sharp with his analysis of the game and almost never makes mistakes on the air. Brown now continues with ESPN as part of their secondary NBA broadcast team (with the lead team getting a major overhaul this offseason).
