Report: Rockets expected to target LeBron James in offseason
The Houston Rockets apparently have king-sized dreams for the summer.
According to a report by Zach Lowe of ESPN on Friday, the Rockets will “likely” pursue LeBron James in free agency this summer. Lowe also adds that the team is hoping to re-sign Chris Paul, who will also be a free agent after the season, to a long-term deal.
If James were to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston would be a highly attractive destination — they are ready to win right now (which is important considering that James is seen as unlikely to sign with a young team), and Paul is, of course, one of the four-time MVP’s Banana Boat brothers.
With another MVP-caliber talent in James Harden in tow and a roster full of length and shooters beckoning, it might not be a stretch to say that donning a Rockets uniform would pose James’ best chance of dethroning Golden State.
