Sam Mitchell can’t wait for Kobe to be out of the NBA

Kobe Bryant five

If there’s one person in the NBA who’s seen far too much of Kobe Bryant throughout the Lakers star’s 19-season career, it’s Sam Mitchell. In 2006, Mitchell was the coach of the Toronto Raptors when the Black Mamba slithered his way to an 81-point game. As if that weren’t enough, on Tuesday, Kobe lit up Mitchell’s T-Wolves for a season-high 38 points as part of a 119-115 Lakers win.

Bryant’s 38-point game, which included 7-of-11 on threes, has Mitchell waving the white flag.

“I hate him!” Mitchell respectfully said of Kobe to the media. “If I don’t ever see him again, it won’t be too soon.”

Bryant appreciated the complimentary nature of Mitchell’s comments.

“Thank you for the hate,” Kobe responded. “I appreciate that, truly.”

Mitchell’s words are the highest of compliments. Like Reggie Jackson said, they don’t boo nobodies, and they have no reason to hate nobodies either.

But something tells us based on this previous report that Mitchell has bigger things to worry about than Kobe.
