Seth Curry clears up relationship with Ben Simmons
Seth Curry is in a unique situation as a player who was traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Brooklyn Nets along with Ben Simmons. As someone who has been closely involved with the Simmons saga as a result, he had an interesting take on whether Simmons owes anyone anything as a result.
Curry denied having any issue with Simmons and added that the former No. 1 overall pick does not owe anyone an apology as a result of his trade demand or absence from the 76ers.
“Business is business,” Curry said Thursday, via Nick Friedell of ESPN. “I said from day [one], even when he was out early in the season, people were asking me if I feel like, if Ben comes back, should he apologize to us or whatever? I understand the business; he doesn’t need to apologize to anybody. When he’s on the court, I know he’s going to do his job and he’s going to do what he does. So I understand the business. He was doing what he felt was best for himself business-wise and personal-wise.
“When we’re on the court, we’re teammates. Everything’s fine. And we depend on each other to do good things. There’s been nothing negative he’s done to me personally, so I’m fine.”
76ers forward Danny Green claimed that Curry and Simmons had issues in a recent interview that made headlines for other reasons. Understandably, Curry is downplaying that. Unlike those still on the Sixers, he will want to keep things cordial with Simmons. That said, it’s fairly clear Curry is in the minority there.
