Sophie Cunningham is once again placing A’ja Wilson in her crosshairs.
The Indiana Fever star Cunningham spoke this week on the latest episode of her “No Hesitation” podcast. During the episode, Cunningham took another swipe at the Las Vegas Aces star Wilson for Wilson’s fan incident during Game 2 of their first-round playoff series.
“That could have called for a suspension,” said Cunningham of the Wilson incident. “But she’s like the LeBron James of our league, so of course they’re not going to suspend her. So I’m not even gonna get into that.
“Something should have happened there,” Cunningham added. “I think there’s definitely a double standard … For someone pointing and saying that the foul was on you? Like, grow up. I’m over it. Grow up.”
In Game 2 of the series between the Fever and the Aces at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., Wilson got upset at a Fever fan who was sitting behind the basket and went over to angrily confront him during a stoppage in play (video here). Wilson, who was given a technical foul for the incident but did not face any further discipline, would later confirm that the fan set her off simply by pointing at her.
Cunningham would go on to troll Wilson over the incident in a TikTok post the next day. But in the end, Wilson and the Aces got the last laugh by winning the decisive Game 3 of their series on Thursday to send Cunningham and the Fever home.
